Your gateway to the Dordogne

The hamlet of La Banne within the commune of Sagelat is your perfect gateway to the Dordogne. Just 2.2 km from the medieval village of Belvès, one of France’s most beautiful villages (Plus Beaux Villages), this small, friendly community offers the perfect blend of rural tranquillity and access to authentic Dordogne experiences.

The river Nauze, a tributary of the Dordogne, flows through Sagelat, which lies at the foothills of Belvès. Enjoy a scenic 25-minute walk along peaceful country lanes, passing Sagelat’s 12th-century church, before arriving in the heart of the village with its inviting café-bars, restaurants, and bustling Saturday market.

In the nearby town of Siorac-en-Périgord, just 6 km away on the River Dordogne, there are more shops, eateries, and a supermarket, ensuring everything you need is within easy reach.

The Domaine

Set on 7 hectares of stunning Dordogne countryside, Domaine de La Banne comprises our beautifully renovated farmhouse, extensive gardens, and a converted barn that houses our guest accommodation. The expansive grounds and surrounding agricultural land, maintained by local farmers, guarantee privacy and peace for all guests.

Wildlife is abundant here - you might spot deer, wild boar, badgers, rabbits, hares, and a variety of birds while exploring the gardens and fields around the property.

At Domaine de La Banne, we are committed to environmentally friendly practices and to preserving the natural beauty of our beloved Dordogne region. This includes solar panels, a 22kW electric vehicle (EV) charging point, recycling and onsite composting, eco-friendly cleaning products, and a focus on using local and regional produce in our welcome baskets.

Neil and David

Before you arrive at Domaine de La Banne, our home and yours during your stay, we wanted to share a little about us, Neil and David.

Neil’s journey has been creative and varied, from theatre to media management. David’s background is in finance having worked extensively in public service and consultancy.  For years, we dreamed of living in the beautiful Dordogne countryside. When we discovered La Banne, its charm, tranquillity and breathtaking views instantly captured our hearts. We knew we’d found the perfect place for the changé de vie we’d been searching for.

Since settling here, we’ve created a stylish and welcoming space for guests. We take great pleasure in sharing this amazing setting with others who wish to experience the region’s rich history, culture, food and wine. We live on-site with our two dogs, Leo and Libby, and are always happy to offer advice or a friendly chat.
